Targetting Local Keywords
A few months ago, I helped a client and friend Michael Roby with his website SEO. Just a few weeks ago he thanked me because he’s ranking in the first few results of Google for “motivational speaker Minnesota”
A lot of Michael’s business comes from local clients who are looking for motivational speakers and sales trainers… so we optimized his site using the keywords someone in his area would type if looking for a motivational speaker.
It’s interesting how a lot of us tend to overlook local searches and don’t target those local keywords when optimizing our sites. If your business can benefit at all from local search, add local targeted keywords to your pages and you should notice a difference soon after.
And keep in mind that a lot of people now use the internet even locally to find the services and businesses they need. The number of people doing this will increase in the next few years so it’s a good idea to keep those local prospects in mind when optimizing your site.

The importance of local SEO and local online advertising is a growing and virtually untapped field. We started a local website http://NewTampaDirectoy.com after leaving my great career as an online product manager to stay home with my children. The site grew and grew and we recently launched our new franchise – http://Mini-Cities.com. We have two other moms running franchises within our first month of being a franchise. The sites are all SEOed for local search terms. I am glad you are talking about SEO and local keywords – they are a big part of the new way to do business locally.
